What is it Windows?

Windows (literally “windows” in English) is from the beginning a unified graphical interface produced by Microsoft, which is then a whole range of platforms, mainly intended for home computers. When you turn on a computer, it starts.

Windows appear, meals pop up, etc. What could be more natural? Well, it’s not that natural really! To achieve this small miracle of technology, a base would have to be installed on the computer.

Without this base, the computer is just a big box with which you won’t be able to do much (at least none of the things we’re interested in in this course). This base is called the OS.
